Latin American Women's Association to become
Latin Americans Working for Achievement
The Latin American Women’s Association- an educational nonprofit- announced today that it will be changing its name to Latin Americans Working for Achievement. The name change reflects the organization’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities in the Latin American community, while retaining the colloquial abbreviation, LAWA.
“As the Latino community has evolved in the south, particularly in Charlotte, the needs and challenges that LAWA addresses have changed as well. We welcome the diversity that this growth brings, and believe that Latin Americans Working for Achievement better encompasses our expanding population and mission”
– Violeta Moser, Executive Director
Latin Americans Working for Achievement celebrated their 25th anniversary this year, a hallmark in the Charlotte Latin American community. Through tutoring, cultural programs, and scholarships, LAWA served roughly 500 community members this year.
